Solarium

Solarium is a place and a collective of people who love to create.
The core of Solarium is a group of crafters, artists, musicians and producers who came together in early 2015 for the realization of a number of identical goals and aspirations.

At the beginning of our path as a collective, our main goal was to provide us and our surroundings with joint and professional workspaces for artists in Berlin.

The studio we formed in our space in Neukölln (150 sqm) is located in an industrial area where we could bring our vision to life.
We have established and built a safe and professional space for people from varied art fields.

In our studios you can find:

- wood workshops,

- A professional rehearsal room for musicians and musical ensembles,

- An acoustic room for audio mixing,

- A studio for painters and plastic artists,

- A studio for producers and composers,

- And another common space to share and come up with ideas, collaborate or cook and drink coffee together.

One of our main goals during the construction of the studios was to use as much recycled material as possible.

Asaf Sabag, who led the construction and interior design of the studios, incorporates use up-cycling techniques as a central principle in his work, with an emphasis on wooden materials.

The recycling process requires creativity and we have often encountered various limitations and challenges. Yet we continue to place a high value on keeping the ecological impact of our construction system low and showing how innovative use of materials,  following  the principle of less is more can lead to an original and sustainable design.

Our distinctive ambition to explore the option of working in different artistic fields in parallel and connect artists from diverse disciplines, led to exciting and creative results.
These results included collaborations between various artists, event productions, interdisciplinary exhibitions and joint workshops within the studio and outside, and the establishment of Solarium as a powerful artistic nucleus, providing a significant contribution to the Berlin art scene.

Now we want to continue to grow and develop and empower our vision by finding spaces inside the Berlin center to produce more common work spaces for artists and crafts from a wide and varied spectrum in the field of art. We want to contribute our ideas and experience to the local artists' community and empower and strengthen the members of our community.

In addition to Asaf Sabag, two of the founders of the project
Gil Abramov and Yonatan Tzruia are currently focused on expanding Solarium and are actively searching for large spaces on rent or for sale, as well as existing institutions that can help to implement our ideas financially and bureaucratically.

Gil Abramov is working as a theater composer and producer and has a degree in sound. He possesses the necessary skills to set up the spaces in the shared studio for musicians and music producers.
Yonatan Tzruia is an experienced asset manager, with a special expertise regarding small collectives or businesses in the creative field.

In addition, we continue to offer our own facilities in Neukölln, the impact of which creates a strong and significant community network.

In addition to the activities of the collective we described, we are working on the production of a festival that will take place in the summer of 2025, and will combine all the arts that our community deals with. The purpose of the festival is to connect artists from across Germany and the world to present their work and to take a direct and active part in the Solarium community with an emphasis on fresh philosophy focused on the connection between international culture and different styles of music and art.
